The invoice number is usually printed somewhere at the top of the invoice along with other vital details. The purpose of this number is to ensure that the business can track all the trading it does. It is needed to avoid any trouble during tax payments, calculating profits or loss at the end of an accounting year, etc. Invoice numbers are in a sequence to make it easier and hassle-free to keep track of sales done to the customers. It helps them track those sales whenever required. It is also important to maintain a record of the purchases you made from the supplier. It is usually given at the top left of the invoice but could also be on the top right side of the said document.
